[ ADD ME ]

I was diagnosed with bipolar at age 17 and it definitely changed my life. I had been previously labeled as ADHD/ADD and had experienced some bouts with depression once puberty hit, but at the time of my diagnosis, I was no longer taking any medication for either of those. To have someone talking to you about taking medication for the rest of your life while totally readjusting your sleep patterns at that age was well, daunting.

The truth is I've never fooled anyone. I've let people fool themselves. They didn't bother to find out who and what I was. Instead they would invent a character for me. I wouldn't argue with them. They were obviously loving somebody I wasn't. When they found this out, they would blame me for disillusioning them and fooling them.
----Marilyn Monroe

Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.
(Last Chance to See)

----Douglas Adams

Suffice it to say, it took a longass time to find a strategy that worked for me. At this point, I've been on the same regimen for 2 years and that's something no-one, including some really smart and wonderful medical people, ever thought would happen. Right now, I'm finishing up a bachelor's in neuroscience in preparation for going into the field of psychiatry and/or psychology.
