Work

Hey guys!

I've just been informed I'm working next week, not sure if I'm looking forward to it or not, I've been struggling recently, and I'm not sure if I'm going to be okay at work. but it will be a good oppertunity for me to test my limits when I'm not feeling so great.

I was just wondering what problems people have encountered at work with their depression, how have colleges reacted to being told, what about bosses? have they been supportive?

what about struggling at work? what do you do if you wake up feeling bad, or get to work and it all feels too much?

I'm really worried that my depression is going to overwhelm me at work and I'd really like some honest feedback on the kind of experiances people have had. even if its 'bad' news, I want to be prepared.

thanks for your support.

Thats good that your going back to work. I didnt have the best experience but that was due to my boss locking me away and also when i told some of my colleuges they just didnt care and just said to me get over it which made me feel alot worse. Sometimes i hate going to work but it can also help me take my mind off some stuff. But its up to you to decide to tell them or not. Whatever you do good luck

i know what you are thinking and feeling.  i have had sooo many jobs because of my depression.  right now i recently got a job with the U.S. Federal Government working for Veteran's Health Administration.  a week after i got the job i went into the Veteran's hospital for my "issues".  i spent a week and a half there.  when i returned they were ok with it.  i had to use unpaid leave.  however, now they are feeling like i am gone to much.  i am a veteran and work with veteran's.  i have frequent appointments at the VA hospital and i now am afraid i am going to lose my job.  i actually like my job.  my husband thinks bad of me because i can't hold a job.  i mean i have a bachelor's degree and can't get it together.  it really depends on who and where you work.  they might seem ok with it at first but if you take too much time off they might let you go.  that too has happened to me. i hope this helps and i hope they understand.  try to explain that you have a medical condition.  they do not need to know you have a mental illness and if you can get a note from your doctor or something.
