SOMETHING HORRIBLE HAPPENED TODAY...

it is with great regret and sorrow that i announce the passing of my son's fish Swimmy...time of death was approximately 1130 am give or take 5 hours...when i arrived home from class i found Swimmy stuck in the weeds behind his underwater castle...his mouth and little bulgy eyes still open...i can only hope it was quick...i took him out and performed FCPR (fishie cardio pulmonary resuscitation) but my efforts were in vain....i know how many of you cared for Swimmy and were concerned 2 weeks ago when his tank became cloudy and were pulling for him as i tried desperately to find the right mix of gravel and water...he fought as hard as he could but this time it was not meant to be...he will be remembered long after his mortal body has departed ...the services will be this saturday at noon....in lieu of flowers or donations the family asks you instead to take a moment to hug your cat or dog...put an extra carrot out for your bunny...look fondly at your fish if only with a glance...and never forget how lucky you are to be graced with a pet that relies on you and you alone for your love and affection....here in lies the gift...thank you

As I started to read this I bacame so overwhelmed with grief that I began to cry. Then it made me think that somehow you held on through that night of despair as did I. Then I cried some more, only tears of joy. So, seeing that I still don't have any pets, even though my wife and daughter want a cat, I thought happy thoughts of swimmy and prayed that God would lift the burden of sorrow from you, your family and swimmy's family who gave the ultimate sacrifice of one of their own for a special person to love.

Though my family will not be able to attend the services on Saturday, we will pause at noon to remember a fish that gave his life selflessly for the joy of others. I am feeling better now. Therefore, since I have no pets, I will go and share my pie with an alley cat.

Most sincerely, Bishop Deadtree . . . Mrs.

LOL What a brilliant story Thumper! I even went and hugged my dog and cat! (once i'd stopped crying with laughter).

Why don't you write some children's stories while you've got some time?

RIP Swimmy, swim free now buddy

I'm sorry for your loss.  I'm sure that Swimmy was truly loved and left this world knowing that.  At least he passed on near his underwater castle, which was probably one of his most popular hang outs.

I am sure that he is in a good place and swimmng with many fishes.

 RIP Swimmy.
