I have given in to the though of treating my symptoms with medicine. But I am kind of scare about all the bad things I hear about all this medicines. I don't want to be on medicine forever and I don't want to have a hard time getting off from them. is there a safe one at all? which med is working for you? and which one was a nightmare?

I had problems with meds years ago, but not lately. The new ones are SSRI(information about that is available on the DepressionTribe website). Right now I'm on Lexapro 10 mg and it seems to be working. From what I have read and have heard it has some of the mildest side effects of any anti-depressant. . I didn't know that it was expensive till someone in the tribe here said so: called my MD and told him I was in a bad way with no insurance and no money, he gave me a nine month supply of samples for free. I didn't have any problems on Zoloft or Elavil either, and those are both available as generics if money is a problem. But I think Lexapro has been working better. One thing though, at the same time as I began Lexapro I quit drinking and smoking pot, that may have had a lot to do with my change in mood. OK, more than one thing: best results come from a combination of meds and therapy, each alone is about equal in results, but together they are much more effective. Good luck and all the best to you.
