I am a Neighborhood Partner For Safe Families.
where I volunteer 30 or more hours to the community.
I am a trained National Alliance For The Mentally Ill member. I teach 3 of their programs.
1.>Provider's Education Program
2.>Peer to Peer
3.>NAMI Connection support group
The first two are 10 week courses, in which I am a 5/3 team member that teaches it.
The last one is a weekly 90 minute support group in which I facilitate.
I am a board member of Linn County MHDD services of Cedar Rapids, Ia.
I am an advisory board member of the Conner's Center For Independent Living of Cedar Rapids, Ia.

I am learning what it is like to be alone. (without family)I have been working on reinventing myself in a carreer of helping others.
It greatly takes my mind off my own problems.
There really are opportunities out there if you look hard enough. I started with my local mental health center & went from there. NAMI provides training for different programs in which as a consumer with a mental diagnosis, can get paid.
