Howdy I'm a computer programmer in Miami, Florida. I've suffered from social anxiety, general anxiety and depression all my life. Fortunately I discovered ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy) in 2005 and have been learning and using it since then.

People say that money doesn't buy happiness, but poverty can't buy you anything.

No meditation isn't the only way you practice mindfulness. Every buddhist learns this. But mindfulness is the training for the practice that goes on in the rest of your day. And meditation takes you into places that you can't get to any other way. I"ve got an ACT book. I"m not buying another one. I probably bought the wrong one because this one is so theoretical and boring. I actually find it unreadable. I am a buddhist, a secular buddhist. I have already done my therapy and i don't actually need to go through any more though sessions from time to time help me. Besides and finally there are no ACT therapists around where i live. Its not big in Australia yet as far as i can determine.
